Twitter erupted Thursday to the wailing of liberals who want to deny President Trump funding for border security.

One site surmised there was “so much stupid we’re not sure where to begin.”

There was the obligatory denial that those who break the law are criminals. And the characterization of illegal aliens as truly American. And a peculiar reference to the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor.

First, reported Twitchy, which monitors Twitter, there was the Democrats’ new socialist star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for defunding of ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

“The president should be really defending why we are funding (ICE) at all … right now, what we are seeing, is death.”

Her rant included: “On the day of Christmas, a child died in ICE custody”

However, the facts of the tragic incident are that the death was not on Christmas, and the child’s “alleged dad declined further medical treatment.”

Ocasio-Cortez also blamed Trump for forcing illegal immigrants to become illegal immigrants. And she condemned, without explanation, the U.S. use of “freezing boxes” to hold illegals.

“AOC truly is the gift that keeps on giving,” said Twitchy. “No one should feel unsafe in America … how about the people who keep losing their lives to illegal immigrants, Alex from the Bronx? And we can’t help but notice how she kept ignoring the reality that Trump was talking about illegal immigrants. You really have to wonder if she has done any research at all on what is actually happening without immigration system or if she’s just going on talking points.”

Regarding lawbreakers, CNN’s Jim Acosta, commented Twitchy, didn’t seem to understand that those who break the law are criminals.

Acosta said Trump “is painting undocumented immigrants as criminals. This has not changed since he launched his run for the White House.”

Twitter user Orange Muppet Energy pointed out, “Jim I have bad news about what we do in fact call people who break the law.”

Ryan Perrenoud added, “Is there another word for one who breaks the law?”

And Elizabethlehem said, “You know ILLEGAL immigrants are breaking the law by not being here legally, right?”

Then there was the Washington Post, which fact-checked Trump’s statistics and admitted the president was right.

But the paper insisted the statistics are “misleading.”

One Twitter user said, “So he’s right, but u want him to be wrong,” to which Twitchy added: “The arrests included nonviolent offenses – nonviolent offenses that wouldn’t have happened if the people who shouldn’t have been in the country weren’t here. How is that ‘misleading’?”

Filmmaker Michael Moore, the report said, was “pretty sure Trump’s Oval Office address is a setup for a coup.”

Even Twitchy was a little befuddled by the claim of Ed Krassenstein that “77 years ago Hitler built a wall … Just saying … #TrumpAddress.”

One responder snarked about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor.

“It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right?” the site said. “What was it Reagan said? It’s not that these people are stupid, it’s just that they know so much that isn’t right.”

When Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave a live response to the president’s Oval Office address, accusing the president of delivering misinformation, the Huffington Post said their rebuttal was “powerful.”

“No, we’re laughing AT them,” said Twitchy, “they were definitely the comedy act for the night, we’ll give ’em that.”

Mark Dice informed the HuffPost: “We’re laughing at them. AT them. Morons.”

Breitbart reported actress and #MeToo activist Rose McGowan’s take on the Trump address: “Trump was grooming hard tonight. Hitler-ian rhetoric. Wake up. Fight back or sit down Democrats.”

Cher tweeted, screeching in all caps, “WHAT HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IS HE SPEAKING OF, THE ONE WHERE HE RIPPED BABIES FROM MOMS ARMS,& … OR WHERE HIS ADMINISTRATION KILLED 2 7YRS OLD.”

George Takei wrote: “There. Is. No. Crisis.”

And The Washington Times reported David Hogg, a political activist who was thrust into the headlines after he survived a school shooting, had a unique perspective: “No one is illegal on stolen land.”

One response to him was, “It’s past your bedtime little one.”

More from Twitchy: “CNN was literally panting at the idea of slamming and embarrassing President Trump after his national address on border security. From Don Lemon playing fascist and calling for the president’s speech to be delayed so it could be ‘edited’ for content to Jim Acosta making an –s of himself (what else is new,) CNN’s buildup to the speech was something to behold.”

However, afterward, “CNN had basically diddly-squat to fact check,” resulting in this jab from Greg Gutfield: “the fact-checking feast that CNN expected and salivated over all day came up empty. Hard to factcheck actual death of innocent Americans.”
