As President Trump warns residents of the Carolinas that Hurricane Florence will be “tremendously big and tremendously wet,” the Washington Post is asserting the commander-in-chief is “complicit” in the storm.
Trump, the Post editorial said Tuesday night as the massive Category 4 hurricane approached, “plays down humans’ role in increasing the risks, and he continues to dismantle efforts to address those risks.”
If it comes inland, the Post pointed out, the storm will be the strongest hurricane ever to hit the East Coast so far north.
The paper cited a climate researcher who said Hurricane Harvey “could not have produced so much rain without human-induced climate change,” and now Florence “is feasting on warm Atlantic Ocean water.”
The Post added that with “depressingly ironic timing, the Trump administration announced Tuesday a plan to roll back federal rules on methane, a potent greenhouse gas that is the main component in natural gas.”
The Trump administration, the paper said, “has now attacked all three pillars of President Barack Obama’s climate-change plan.”
The Daily Wire argued, however, that the Post “picks and chooses when it comes to global warming.”
Counter-evidence, Forbes reported in 2011, is found in a European Organization for Nuclear Research report that “revealed an inverse correlation between periodic changes in sunspot activity levels, and quantities of cosmic rays entering Earth’s atmosphere that trigger surface-cooling cloud formations.”
Americans are living through an era of mass hysteria, in which Democrat politicians, entertainment celebrities and media pundits daily compare President Trump to Hitler and his supporters to Nazis, fascists and white supremacists. Unfortunately, such accusations inevitably escalate into mob violence and worse. To understand more fully both the problem and the solution, read the current issue of WND’s acclaimed magazine, “MASS HYSTERIA: How Trump Derangement Syndrome is transforming America.” Also available in state-of-the-art digital format.
In other words, Forbes summarized, “natural fluctuations in solar activity are the only climate influences that matter.”
Talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh commented Wednesday on the Post’s editorial, calling it more evidence of the left “losing their minds,” having become “radicalized” under Obama.
“There’s almost like a demonic possession that has come over these people,” he said.
“The next thing we’re gonna hear is that that Trump is colluding with Hurricane Florence … and that the special counsel is looking into it.”
Newsbusters, meanwhile, reported political commentator and former Obama administration official Jen Psaki said on CNN’s “The Lead Tuesday night that Trump was “almost gleeful and excited about” Hurricane Florence, as if it’s an accomplishment he helped engineer.
“I mean, he came across as almost gleeful and excited about the hurricane and how big it is and how tremendously wet it’s going to be and all these absurd things that came out of his mouth,” Psaki said.
She instructed that the president “should be calm, he should be sober, he should conveying to people to be calm, to follow instructions.”
Newsbusters noted, however, she apparently missed Trump telling a pool of reporters that “the safety of the American people is my absolutely highest priority.”
Trump said the government is “sparing no expense” while he was joined in the Oval Office by FEMA Administrator Brock Long and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.
