Many gun owners have grown weary of British CNN host Piers Morgan trumpeting the cause of gun control, but on the entertainer’s program this week, one lawmaker had the gall to ask him, “When are you going to move back to England?”
Since the Sandy Hook massacre last year – in which Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 students and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. – Morgan has made advocating for gun-control legislation a frequent topic of his program, clashing with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich or rocker and National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent, for example, and calling Gun Owners of America’s Larry Pratt “an unbelievably stupid man” for disagreeing with him.
Tennessee Republican State Sen. Stacey Campfield, however, gave voice to many critics who have suggested Morgan’s British sensibilities fail to understand the importance of gun ownership to Americans.
Citing the recent defeat of a Senate bill introducing new gun regulations, Campfield said to Morgan, “Now that gun control has failed, Piers, I’m wondering: When are you going to move back to England? Because everyone in Tennessee is dying to know.”
Morgan’s response: “Yeah, well, I’m going to hang around and just see if people can’t grow enough courage in this country to face the reality of your gun-violence problem.
Morgan had invited Campfield on to the show to discuss a controversial blog entry, in which the lawmaker posted a photo of a pressure cooker – such as those reportedly used in the Boston Marathon bombing – and ironically likening the ban of such cookers in the wake of the bombing to calls for banning guns in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
“Just pointing out the hypocrisy of the left, how they push for gun control ten seconds after Sandy Hook shooting,” Campfield told Morgan. “So when people go on and say, ‘We have to get rid of guns, we got to push for gun control,’ it’s just ridiculous. It’s like pushing for pressure-cooker control after the explosion.
“We’re talking about an inanimate object that does nothing by itself,” Campfield said of a gun. “It does absolutely nothing by itself, just like a pressure cooker does absolutely nothing by itself.”
The image from the blog post can be seen below:
In the face of criticism over the post, Campfield refused to offer an apology.
“I Just got a call from the media saying they had gotten a few calls (about a blog post I did) saying it was inappropriate after the Boston bombing,” Campfield wrote in a follow-up blog post. “Really? If my post was inappropriate talking about ‘crock pot control,’ then where is the outrage from the left when they push for gun control after the Sandy Hook shooting? I’m sorry if I exposed your double standard. … Well, not really.”

Government officials in cahoots with Islamist regimes, federal agencies buying up bullets, attempts by lawmakers to restrict private gun ownership – it’s enough to make a man “paranoid,” says radio host Michael Savage.
“Here’s a news story for you: Hagel linked to Iran lobby,” Savage said on his Friday program this past week, quoting a WND exclusive that revealed secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel’s work for organizations that aid Iranian causes. “It doesn’t get any worse than this.”
“If you want to get paranoid, Obama can really help you in your work,” Savage continued. “Why would Homeland Security be buying 22 million more rounds of ammunition? Can anyone explain that to me? I mean Big Sis Napolitano – why does she need 21.6 million more rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion bullets [DHS] has already obtained over the last 10 months?”
Several news agencies have reported a growing stockpile of ammunition by federal agencies unconnected to the U.S. military. No significant explanation has been offered for the massive acquisitions.
“This is shocking,” Savage said. “I want to remind you of something: Hollow-point ammunition is outlawed by the United Nations. Why would they need 10 million .40-caliber [and] 10 million 9mm jacketed, hollow-point bullets? Tell me why.”
Savage continued, “Now when you couple this with the fact that the DHS has secured over the last 10 months 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, and now you couple that with Hagel linked to the Iranian lobby, now you couple that with the man who wants to take over the CIA who has suspicious relationships as well, now you couple that with Obama being a very, very strange fellow to say it in a very polite way – I’ll tell you something. It will give you pause for thought, to put it mildly.
“Why would the Department of Homeland Security have purchased 1.6 billion rounds of hollow-point ammunition over the last 10 months at the same time they’re trying to disarm the average American citizen?” he asked.
